Goal setting time!  

Have you thought about what you want in 2019?

A New Year means it’s time to set those goals!

These are a few of the emails I received over the last two months, and they made me totally FREEZE! My mind shut down, the clarity I had around all I desired in my personal and professional life went out the door and I was left feeling anxious and stuck!

I for one am ready for something new, are you?

This past year I started off most of my days asking myself one question in order to set an intention for that day. 

“How do I want to feel today?”

This one question changed everything for me. Whenever I had written my goals down before, they always felt more like a to do list or a should do list. I usually wrote the things I thought I had to write based on what was expected of me instead of how I wanted to feel about my life and business.

By shifting my mindset and the question I asked myself when setting goals, my goals became more meaningful and achievable.

My old goals looked something like this:

·      I want to earn 6 figures this year

·     Lose 10 pounds

·     Organize my photos

And here are some of my new goals based on how I want to feel:

· Connection in my biz: Host more in person and informative meetup events for MWD

·   Spiritual: Find and commit to a retreat that involves, nature, mindfulness and personal growth and other amazing women.

·    Family quality time: Plan a family vacation for just the four of us(myself, my husband and our two kids)

I’m feeling excited about this discovery and want to share it so you too can create meaningful goals you easily fulfill, not just a list that sits in a drawer never to be looked at again until December 31, 2019.

Here is my 5 Step Process to creating meaningful and impactful goals!

Step 1:Ask this question.

Instead of sitting down and writing out a list of 3, 5 or even 10 goals, I want you to begin by asking yourself this question and just sit with it and really consider your answer as it relates to all areas of your life.

How do I want to feel?

Step 2:Make a list!

Make a list of words. Adjectives that best describe how you wish to feel in the different areas of your life; Home, Love, Money & Work.

For me some of the ways I wish to feel are:

Freedom

Calm

Connection to myself, family and community

Spiritual

Intentional

As if I am making a difference in moms’ lives

Fun

Step 3: Write down some of the things you desire to manifest in your life based on your list in step two.   

EXAMPLE:

Instead of my goal of earning a six-figure income this year. I went with the feelings of connection and fun, which turned into:

Host more in person and informative meetup events for MWD

Step 4: Review the list line by line. For each desire or goal ask yourself how it will feel when you have achieved or accomplished it.  If you cannot “feel” it, then remove it from your list.

Step 5: Rinse and Repeat.

Please remember, it’s ok for your feelings to change and shift.  Life has a way of forcing us to re-evaluate what is important at any given time.  So, be kind to yourself and give yourself permission to abandon a desire or goal if things have shifted or changed. There is a big difference between quitting and making a shift (more on that in 2019).
